Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Hashdesk stores, why it is stored, and which optional third-party services may receive browser information. Last updated 16 September 2026.

Information submitted to Hashdesk

When you generate and save an entry, Hashdesk stores the submitted text and its SHA-256 hash. A stored original may be returned to anyone who later searches for its exact hash.

Do not enter real passwords, personal information, private keys or confidential material. Hash values are not anonymous identifiers when the original text is common or can be guessed.

Why entries are stored

Entries support the site’s educational exact-match dictionary lookup. They are retained until removed, the database is reset, or the service is discontinued.

Removal requests

You can request review of an entry using only its 64-character SHA-256 value and a reason. The original text is not required. Requests are stored separately with a status and submission time so the site owner can review them.

Google Analytics and advertising

Hashdesk loads the Google tag with analytics and advertising storage denied by default. If a visitor chooses “Allow” in the privacy controls, Analytics page-view and site-usage events are enabled. Google may then receive information such as the page URL, IP address, general location, device/browser information and cookies. Hashdesk’s custom analytics events do not include submitted text, hashes or lookup results.

Advertising is configured for limited, non-personalized operation through Hashdesk’s consent settings. Google may still process information needed to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Visitors can decline optional services or reopen Privacy settings at the bottom of the screen.

Hosting and security

The hosting platform may process normal technical request information needed to deliver and secure the service. Hashdesk uses HTTPS, same-origin request checks and prepared database statements, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
